‘Very complicated’ – PSG director throws permanent Kean switch in doubt
Paris Saint-Germain sporting director Leonardo has described his club’s chances of signing Everton forward Moise Kean on a permanent basis as “very complicated”.
The Italian striker joined the French champions last summer on a season-long loan after falling down the pecking order at Goodison Park, with PSG not having a permanent option.
The 20-year old has impressed at the Parc des Princes this season, scoring 14 goals in 26 appearances across all competitions, compared to just two goals in 33 games wearing Everton colours last season.
Given his impressive displays in France this season, it stands to reason that PSG might wish to sign the Italy international on a long-term basis when the transfer window opens in the summer.
However, Leonardo explained to France Bleu that it could be tricky, saying: “Today, knowing a value is difficult. The choice was obvious. We chose to take a young player, whom we have known for a long time. We took it for one year, then we’ll see.
“Everton didn’t want to lose him. He plays very well; he scores. He has an important future.
“But there, we can not know. We could’t do anything other than the loan, and I think that having him available for a year was already very positive. If we can see the future under certain conditions, we will try to see how it goes. But today, it’s very complicated to know.”
Win-win deal for the Blues
Whichever way we see the Moise Kean saga turn this summer, Everton shouldn’t be the losing party.
Either the Blues will gain another useful player with experience under his belt, or they’ll sell him for what will likely be a handsome profit.
Marcel Brands had hoped to develop Kean into a fine talent for Everton but so far he has failed to shine in the Premier League.
Whether he’ll get a second chance or whether his Everton career is over, the Blues will most likely benefit.
