Carlo Ancelotti: Farhad Moshiri has no influence on Everton team selection

Carlo Ancelotti has detailed Farhad Moshiri’s hands-on approach but insists the Everton owner has never tried to interfere in team selection.

Moshiri sanctioned the arrivals of James Rodriguez, Abdoulaye Doucoure and Allan last summer and all three have had a transformative effect on this Blues side that is vying for Champions League qualification this season.

He was criticised during the start of his part-ownership reign in 2016 but Ancelotti has voiced his backing for his boss.

As reported on the Liverpool Echo website, “I have a good relationship with him, we talk a lot.

“He is really involved and he wants to know what is happening here at Finch Farm.”

Ancelotti added: “He is really kind with us, with me and the players, and so at the moment everything is ok.”

“He is the kind of owner who wants to know about the team but he doesn’t put pressure on me.

“But, honestly, I never received pressure to put in this player or to do this line-up. I never had this kind of problem.”

Deadly duo doing the business for the Blues

We’re not surprised to hear Ancelotti confirm that only he picks the team – he wouldn’t be at Goodison Park long if there was any interference in that regard.

As one of the most decorated managers in the game no one knows better than Carlo and he has shown that on countless occasions this term.

His team selection at Anfield was the perfect example of that as while it was not the most inspiring on paper, it proved to be the perfect tactical masterplan to land our first win there since 1999.

But it is good to hear Moshiri is keen to be as involved as possible without wanting to cause too much disruption.

Too often we hear about owners that are either over-bearing or non-existent so it is comforting to know Ancelotti has found his happy medium in Moshiri.

This duo look set to deliver greatness to the club in the coming years.
