Exclusive: Campbell predicts result of Everton v Chelsea
We’re delighted to welcome former Everton striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week the former Toffees captain will be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Goodison Park…
Kevin Campbell sees the points being shared when Everton travel to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea on Monday night.
The Toffees won 1-0 in this season’s reverse fixture at Goodison Park with a Gylfi Sigurdsson penalty proving to be the difference.
Campbell insists the result will be different this time as Chelsea look rejuvenated under the leadership of new boss Thomas Tuchel.
“I think that one is going to finish in a draw,” Campbell told Goodison News.
“I can see it finishing 1-1. They’re two fairly evenly matched teams and whatever happens, it will be a cracking game of football.”
This wouldn’t be the worst result in the world considering we are battling Chelsea for a top-four spot but a win would be a huge boost.
After all, we are coming into the game with a good recent defensive record and an in-form Richarlison.
Those two things married together can cause real problems for any opposition and Chelsea will be worried ahead of this one.
We haven’t won at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League since 1994 so hopefully the players are in the mood to make more history after the recent win at Anfield.
Carlo Ancelotti has his work cut out however as there are several in the Chelsea camp who look to be in red hot form.
Mason Mount was incredible against Liverpool on Thursday night and Timo Werner looks to be finally getting into the groove at Chelsea.
We’ll have to keep these guys quiet but Jordan Pickford looks like he will be up to the challenge after more good performances in recent weeks.
In other Everton news, Carlo Ancelotti is hopeful that the double signing of Real Madrid duo Lucas Vasquez and Isco will convince James Rodriguez to remain an Everton player.
