‘Everton are favourites’ – Exclusive: Campbell backing Blues to edge Liverpool in top four hunt

We’re delighted to welcome former Everton striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week the former Toffees captain will be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Goodison Park…

Kevin Campbell claims Everton have a great chance of beating Liverpool to a Premier League top-four spot this season.

The Blues can move into the top four with a win over Chelsea on Monday night while our city neighbours continue to struggle in the league.

Campbell claims Everton are favourites to beat the Reds in the race for Champions League football but they must improve their consistency.

“You could say Everton are favourites for the top four,” Campbell told Goodison News.

“Liverpool are tried and tested, they’ve been there, they’re the champions. Liverpool aren’t going to carry on being poor for a long time.

“They won against Sheffield United last week. The key is if Everton can stay consistent, that’s their problem. So if they can find that consistency then it’ll be close.”

A top-four finish is on the cards this season and it would be one heck of an achievement if Carlo Ancelotti can bring Champions League football to Goodison.

Liverpool lost to Fulham on Sunday afternoon as their Anfield woes continue and it is hard to see them finishing ahead of us at the moment.

We have improved and are playing well but Liverpool have been so bad it is hard to see where their next win is coming from.

If they aren’t beating Fulham then who are they going to beat?

Let’s ignore the fact that we also lost to Fulham at home and look more towards our derby victory for evidence we can finish higher than Liverpool.

We need to just focus on ourselves however as our destiny is in our own hands.
