View: Everton find healthy price point for Moise Kean exit

Everton have settled on a price point for wanted forward Moise Kean this summer, with the club wanting at least £42.8million (€50million).

The Italian striker has emerged as a target for both Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain this summer, the former of whom want him to return to Turin and the latter who wish to turn his loan deal permanent.

CalcioMercato report that Kean’s future will depend on where he wishes to play next season, while they also claim that PSG have opened talks with the Toffees over a summer switch.

Should Everton receive an offer in the region of the fee that they are demanding, the club could count themselves very fortunate indeed.

Less than 12 months ago it had appeared as though Everton had suffered yet another high-risk transfer failure, with Kean scoring just twice in 29 Premier League appearances after moving to Goodison Park in a deal worth an initial £25million [BBC Sport].

Now the 21-year old is thriving in Paris, having scored 15 goals in 29 appearances since completing the temporary switch to the Parc des Princes.

Former Golden Boy nominee Kean has seen his stock skyrocket following his form for the Parisians this season, and in assessing Everton’s £42.8million price tag for Kean, that appears to be right on the money for what he is worth in this current market.

Still only 21-years old Kean’s potential is enormous, and his performances this year have allowed him to showcase some of his ability to potential buyers. Given his age, he would be a long-term investment, and that undeniably drives up his price tag.

Having paid £25million to sign him in 2019, Everton will also want to make a sizeable profit on him this summer in order for them to sanction his sale.

If interested parties aren’t willing to ensure that Everton see significant profit then it does the Toffees no favours in allowing him to go.

Finally, the COVID-19 pandemic has somewhat tanked the market by tightening the finances of the vast majority of clubs across Europe, so players across the board this summer will ultimately sell for less than they would have done in the past.

20-year old Rhian Brewster joined Sheffield United from Liverpool last summer for £23.5million [BBC Sport], on the basis that he had earned experience in the Championship with Swansea and that he was considered a promising player.

Moise Kean has scored against Barcelona in the Champions League this summer and he find himself in the middle of a bidding war between two of Europe’s biggest clubs, and that certainly suggests that his price tag should be multiple times higher than what Brewster sold for.

However given the state of the market, Everton would do extremely well to get £42.8million, and for a player who had seemed to be a huge failure only recently, that would be terrific business from the club.
