Michael Owen predicts Everton clash v Crystal Palace, backs Calvert-Lewin to score
Michael Owen has backed Everton to return to winning ways in the Premier League against Crystal Palace on Monday evening.
The former Liverpool forward has predicted that the Toffees will walk away with a 2-1 victory at Goodison Park after the international break.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin once again shined for England in the past couple of weeks, and Owen believes he will continue that against Palace.
Writing in his Bet Victor predictions column, Owen believes that it will be a tight clash in the latest instalment of the Premier League.
“Everton lost three on the bounce prior to the international break, so it’s safe to say that it came at a good time for Carlo Ancelotti’s side,” he wrote.
“Palace’s form has been encouraging. One defeat in their last five is not bad at all, although that did come in a 4-1 drubbing against Spurs.
“I think this one could be tight, but as mentioned previously, I think it’s fortunate that the break came when it did for Everton. If the Toffees can pick themselves up and play like we’ve seen at times this season, I think they’ll win this with the excellent Dominic Calvert-Lewin playing his part.”
Critical.
Everton will be desperate to return to winning ways after losing three games consecutively in all competitions before the last international break.
The FA Cup defeat against Manchester City can be written off, but losing at home against the likes of Burnley is simply unacceptable when pushing for European football.
It isn’t the first time we’ve disappointed at Goodison Park this season though, also losing to the likes of Leeds and Fulham throughout the campaign.
A convincing performance alongside a crushing victory would be the perfect return to action in the Premier League, and there aren’t many better to face for that than Palace.
