Exclusive: Kevin Campbell predicts Everton v Crystal Palace
We’re delighted to welcome former Everton striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week the former Toffees captain will be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Goodison Park…
Kevin Campbell is backing Everton to get back to winning ways when they face Crystal Palace on Monday night as league football resumes.
The Blues lost 2-1 to Burnley last time out in the Premier League and those kind of results aren’t going to help us secure a European finish.
Campbell has predicted a 2-1 win for Everton and stressed the importance of starting the run-in with a three point haul with points now at a premium.
“It’s important because we are at the run-in now,” Campbell exclusively told Goodison News.
“We’re in the home straight and points are premium now. To beat Palace is a big big result for Everton and they need the points. I’m going 2-1 Everton.
“Nine games to go in the league. It’s a race to the end now and Everton need to finish as high as possible and get into Europe.”
The next few weeks will define our season and games against teams like Crystal Palace need to be won if we are to secure European football.
We’ll have to see where we finish before assessing the season properly but there is no doubting that we’ve improved this year.
This Palace game is taking place at Goodison Park but at the moment our ground is firmly in banana skin territory.
Repeats of dismall loses to Fulham and Burnley cannot be allowed if we’re serious about finishing in the top six.
Palace are no pushovers either.
They may be scrapping just ahead of the relegation places but they have some talented players and we all saw what fast wingers can do to our full backs in the Burnley game.
We need to turn up and win convincingly as a statement of intent, here’s hoping.
In other Everton news, Everton reportedly make move for 20y/o forward available for £8.5m.
