View: Manchester United pursuit of Icardi could seal Kean PSG switch
Everton forward Moise Kean is undeniably a wanted man this summer, with former club Juventus and current loan club Paris Saint-Germain both said to be keen.
The Italian striker has impressed since switching Goodison Park for the Parc des Princes in October, having scored 15 times in 29 appearances for the Ligue 1 giants.
It remains to be seen whether the 21-year old would consider a return to Merseyside this summer, however Manchester United’s plans for the transfer window could impact Kean’s future.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport (via TopMercato), Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is monitoring Mauro Icardi’s situation in Paris ahead of the transfer window.
The Argentine forward has been earmarked as someone who could leave PSG this summer in order to raise funds for the club, which they could then put towards a permanent offer for Kean.
Gazzetta’s report claims that Edinson Cavani could be set to leave Old Trafford at the end of the season, paving the way for United to prioritise fresh attacking reinforcements.
Should the Red Devils commit to pursuing Icardi this summer, PSG could find themselves in a stronger negotiating position when communicating with Everton over a permanent stay for Kean.
The Blues are likely to demand a profit on the initial £25.1million fee that they paid Juventus for Kean in 2019, and Icardi’s sale would give PSG the financial strength that they would need to meet Everton’s demands.
It was said in February that Carlo Ancelotti has Kean in his plans ahead of next season, with the Italian very much considering his compatriot to be an Everton player.
However that situation could quickly change, and should the player wish to return to France and should PSG make the appropriate offer, Everton could be set to lose one of the most talented young players in Europe.
In other Everton news, The Athletic reported Gregg O’Keeffe has hinted at Everton forward’s likely summer exit from Goodison Park.
