Everton exclusive: Campbell alarmed by two Everton star’s performances v Crystal Palace

We’re delighted to welcome former Everton striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week the former Toffees captain will be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Goodison Park…

Kevin Campbell claims the performance of the Everton forwards against Crystal Palace is very worrying ahead of a season-defining run of games.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison created a myriad of chances in either half but couldn’t take any of them as the game finished in a disappointing 1-1 draw.

Campbell has suggested that the Blues forwards are failing to perform when the pressure is on and they are failing in their mission to push the club forward.

“The defining games is where you make your name,” Campbell exclusively told Goodison News.

“There’s no pressure on you earlier in the season, now you’ve got to try and score the goals to help push the club in the right direction.

“This is where Calvert-Lewin can make his name but him and Richarlison just couldn’t get it going.

“That’s very worrying for Everton because they had more than enough chances to put that game to bed and they didn’t take them.”

On another day we could’ve battered Palace and taken a huge step towards securing European football.

But more often than not we are looking back at missed opportunities and that can be said about today.

It should’ve been a routine win against a poor side but we made such hard work of it and even though DCL and Richy aren’t solely to blame, they could’ve drastically altered last night’s result.

They need to buck their ideas up quickly because we can’t afford to miss chances against any side.

Calvert-Lewin’s recent form is concerning and that came to a head on Monday night as he looked a shadow of the player he was in September.

Richarlison hasn’t scored as many goals as we thought he would this term and he too was disappointing, a big improvement is needed before next week’s clash with Brighton.

In other Everton news, a reliable source says an Everton forward is set to leave Goodison on a permanent basis after agreeing a contract with a PL rival.
