Exclusive: Kevin Campbell thrilled by Everton playmaker James Rodriguez
We’re delighted to welcome former Everton striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week the former Toffees captain will be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Goodison Park…
Kevin Campbell was thrilled by the performance of Everton playmaker James Rodriguez in the 1-1 draw against Crystal Palace on Monday.
The Colombian superstar returned to the starting XI with a goal after missing the previous month of action under Carlo Ancelotti.
Campbell was awestruck by Rodriguez, claiming his ability on the ball was “quality” and his opening goal epitomised just that.
Speaking exclusively to Goodison News, Campbell said, “He was quality.
“Real quality. He’s great on the ball and scored a good goal, he’s always probing with those through balls, and really showed himself what a good player he is.
“I was delighted for him because he was quality; superb.”
Show them how it’s done.
It was a frustrating night all around for the Blues, who were far too wasteful.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison missed far too many chances, and Rodriguez proved why he is a class apart once his chance came around.
With numerous bodies surrounding the goal and Vicente Guaita, the Colombian still managed to smash home the perfect finish on his weaker.
Ancelotti will know that Rodriguez will be key to any European push this season, and he must keep him firing on all cylinders for the next two months.
In other Everton news, this 30-goal forward linked with a switch to Goodison Park would have been perfect for wasteful Blues in the draw v Crystal Palace
