Schneiderlin describes working under Ancelotti as ‘real pleasure’

Former Everton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin has admitted that he is a great admirer of Toffees boss Carlo Ancelotti.

The 31-year old midfielder played just a handful of times under Ancelotti at Goodison Park before he was sold to Nice last summer, bringing his three-and-a-half year spell on Merseyside to a close.

However Schneiderlin confessed to being a fan of the Italian, complimenting him on his coaching ability and his ability to connect personally with players.

Talking exclusively to Royal Blue Mersey, Schneiderlin revealed his thoughts on Ancelotti while reflecting on his time as an Everton player.

The former Manchester United and Southampton man said of Ancelotti: “I like him very much. I read his two books, because maybe I want to be a coach later.

“When I spoke with players who played under him at PSG or other clubs, they always told me how close he was to his players, how good he is, how good his training sessions are.

“He’s someone who has charisma, who you listen to, who’s very close to his players, who knows football better than anyone.

“I liked my time with him and his training sessions very much. It was a real pleasure.”

Influential Ancelotti

Schneiderlin isn’t the first player to praise the tactile managerial approach of Ancelotti and he won’t be the last – by all accounts he seems like a highly popular figure in the managerial space.

Following the successive sackings of Ronald Koeman, Sam Allardyce and Marco Silva, Ancelotti must have brought a professional calmness with his appointment, being such a notable and respected coach.

It’s really positive to hear just how personal Ancelotti is as a manager too, particularly given how Everton have handled certain players in the past.

Ademola Lookman and Nikola Vlasic essentially left Goodison Park because they were mismanaged by the management team at the club, so Ancelotti’s more personal approach to dealing with players should hopefully prevent the same thing happening again.

Everton have a talented squad of young players and they need a manager who knows how to develop and nurture their ability, and it seems as though Ancelotti is the man to do so.
