Three things to watch for in Everton clash v Brighton
Everton aim to bring their three game winless run in the Premier League to an end when they face Brighton at the Amex Stadium on Monday.
The Toffees have racked up losses against Chelsea and Burnley, as well as a disappointing draw against Crystal Palace in recent weeks, while they also lost against Manchester City in their FA Cup quarter final tie.
Brighton meanwhile were unfortunate to lose 2-1 to Manchester United at Old Trafford, having won back-to-back league games against Southampton and Newcastle before that.
Ahead of the clash on the south coast we at Goodison News have picked out three things that fans should watch out for in this upcoming encounter.
Shooting boots needed
Richarlison and Dominic Calvert-Lewin both struggled to find the back of the net against the Eagles, but the Brazilian’s missed chances were more egregious.
If he wishes to lead Everton into Europe next season, Richarlison must find his shooting boots before travelling to East Sussex.
More magic please
James Rodriguez was back to his influential best against Palace after sporadic performances over the past few months, with the Colombian scoring the only Everton goal of the game.
James could have had a number of assists to his name too if Richarlison and Calvert-Lewin could finish, and hopefully we’ll see him produce many more moments of magic against the Seagulls.
Step up needed
With Andre Gomes ruled out of the game against Brighton, Ancelotti will likely turn to Gylfi Sigurdsson to start.
Without Abdoulaye Doucoure playing Everton will be light on energy in midfield, so we need to see Sigurdsson step it up a gear and improve his work rate to aid his team on Monday.
The occasional good performance isn’t enough for a player who goes missing too much, lacks energy and doesn’t contribute directly enough for someone who costs so much.
In other Everton news, Everton want to sign £25.9m-rated star that Champions League manager called the ‘complete player’.
