Martin Tyler: We think Everton ace Doucoure will miss rest of the season

Sky Sports commentator Martin Tyler claimed Abdoulaye Doucoure will miss the rest of the season as Everton drew 0-0 with Brighton on Monday night.

In the first half, Tyler said on Sky Sports Main Event that “we think [Doucoure] will be out for the rest of the season”.

This is despite what Carlo Ancelotti said about the ex-Watford midfielder last week when he was quoted by the Liverpool Echo as saying: “He will play again [this season]. He had the scan last week, everything was OK.”

All downhill without Duke

Everton were woeful against Brighton on Monday night and we really missed someone like Doucoure in the midfield.

Tom Davies had a bit of a stinker in the middle at the AMEX and there’s no doubt that there would have been a marked improvement had Doucoure played.

Since the French midfielder suffered his current injury, the Blues are without a win.

They’ve lost twice and drawn twice in the four Premier League games without the former Watford star. Ancelotti’s men were also dumped out of the FA Cup, albeit to Manchester City, without him. Before he was injured, they had won three in a row without conceding a goal.

Coincidence? Absolutely not. We failed to win earlier in the season too when Doucoure missed the 1-1 draw with Leicester back in January.

We need Doucoure back and really hope Tyler is wrong about the severity of his current injury because if we’re without him for the rest of the season, we can kiss goodbye to European football next term.
