PSG chief Leonardo ready to discuss deal for Everton striker Moise Kean
Paris Saint-Germain sporting director Leonardo will enter talks with Everton about a permanent deal for Moise Kean in the coming weeks, according to Gianluca Di Marzio.
Writing on his personal website, the Sky Sports Italy journalist reported that while Kean, 21, is very much in demand due to his stellar performances on loan at PSG, the Ligue 1 giants are the only club he’s likely to join at this stage.
It is understood that Everton want at least £34.7million for the Italian international, who’s scored 16 goals in 33 appearances across all competitions while on loan at PSG and helped them book a spot in the Champions League semi-finals on Tuesday night.
Di Marzio adds that PSG are now “ready to take concrete steps to sign the player” after he discussed his future in public after the win over Bayern Munich this week.
“I’m enjoying the moment, there will be some work to decide my future but currently I’m fully focused here,” he said.
No option but to sell
Kean struggled to get settled on Merseyside.
Although he never really had that many chances due to a lack of starts, it just seems the right thing to do to cash in on him in the summer.
Of course, it’s a bitter pill to swallow because when Kean arrived at Goodison, we knew that he was a talent and we knew that he’d realise his potential sooner rather than later.
Since joining PSG, he has started to tap into that potential without being a regular starter for the Ligue 1 club.
Earlier this season, AS quoted how now-Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel praised Kean for the attitude he showed on the pitch. The ex-PSG boss said: “He has a big heart, he puts on intensity. He is not afraid, he is courageous. He does what is necessary.
“I wouldn’t want to be a defender against him right now, it’s really hard to play against him. It’s very important for us because we miss that in certain times.”
It’s been a tough season for PSG, who seem as though they could miss out on the Ligue 1 title with Lille three points ahead of them with six matches to play.
But Kean’s form in Paris has been a beacon of hope and selling him, for a lot of money and for a big profit, is probably the best Everton can hope for.
Would he want to come back here and be back-up to Dominic Calvert-Lewin? Would he want to come back here and play alongside Alex Iwobi instead of Kylian Mbappe?
We doubt it.
