Sky Sports pundit tweets brilliant response to Everton ESL statement

Everton have released an official statement opposing the European Super League and Gary Neville has offered his encouragement.

The Everton Board of Directors urged the big six owners to reconsider their plans, describing the actions as acting in their own interest.

Farhad Moshiri also spoke out about the plans on talkSPORT, saying, “Football clubs are community assets, they belong to fans and their communities. This just takes much of the romance of football away.”

Neville has repeatedly bashed the Super League and has not held back in his Sky Sports appearances.

In reaction to the statement, he tweeted, “Go on Everton”, followed by a heart emoji.

A united front

On Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football Neville spoke of the need for football to unite against the top six in order to stop their plans.

Everton have picked up that responsibility straight away, becoming the first Premier League club to issue a condemnation of the Super League.

Brighton followed suit later on in the morning and the 14 Premier League clubs not involved in the breakaway held a meeting about the matter on Tuesday.

Every fan, pundit and journalist seems to be against the Super League, and hopefully the backlash causes the project to unfold.

The Daily Mail’s Oliver Holt reports two clubs are beginning to lose their nerve, and as long as clubs follow Everton’s example we should reach the conclusion we all want.

It is positive to see rivalries cast aside for once as the football world knows it is under threat from a select few.

We are proud of Everton’s stance and hope they stick by it.

In other Everton news, Neville also closed off MNF with a brilliant three-word message to the Toffees.
