Everton chief demands strong action over European Super League clubs

Everton chief executive Denise Barrett-Baxendale claims she will urge strong action against the six Premier League clubs over the European Super League plans.

The breakaway European competition threatened to change the course of football in England and after its failure thoughts have turned to how the disobedient clubs should be punished.

Blues CEO Barrett-Baxendale has sent a defiant message to supporters that the matter won’t be forgotten.

Sky Sports journalist Alan Myers relayed a message from her on his personal Twitter profile. It read: “I can assure you that I, along with my fellow directors, will be working closely with colleagues and shareholders at the Premier League to ensure the events of this week are not able to happen again – and that appropriate action is taken.”

It continued, “I, along with my fellow board members, will do everything possible to ensure the voice of Evertonians continues to be heard, loud and clear.”

Don’t hold back

Everton is a family club steeped in traditional football values and that’s what makes us such a great institution, and it’s great to see we haven’t lost sight of that.

The Blues hierarchy have gone big on this ESL breakaway news and they sound as disgusted as we are.

Hopefully, they carry this through and ensure the strictest punishment possible is handed down to the insubordinate clubs who have turned their nose up at every other side in England.

The severity of their plans could have been catastrophic on us and the rest of the football pyramid so they must be dealt with accordingly.

Points deductions? Maybe; fines certainly won’t cut it and stop them from doing similar in the future.

Legislation must also be put in place to restrict such measures from being invoked again.
