Former England boss Eriksson praises ‘top class’ Everton coach Ancelotti

Former England manager Sven-Goran Eriksson has described Everton coach Carlo Ancelotti as a “top class manager”.

Brought in to replace Marco Silva in December 2019, Ancelotti is comfortably the most decorated manager Everton have had, boasting three Champions League titles and many league successes.

Ancelotti has expressed his desire to remain as manager of the Blues for the foreseeable future, with the Italian hoping to build a competitive team on Merseyside.

Talking to Everton’s official podcast, former England boss Eriksson praised Ancelotti for bringing “stability” to Goodison Park, among many other compliments he paid the Toffees boss.

Eriksson said: “[Ancelotti] is a top class man and a top class manager.

“If I was the owner of a club, I would hire Ancelotti. Because that brings stability.

“He will be very loyal to the club and players. He is a good PR man, because of his way of being, and the connections he has around the world in football – players, managers, press, fans – is great.

“You don’t find anyone speaking bad speaking about Ancelotti. I have never heard that. Never ever.

“People know he is a good manager to work for, so as a player, you want to go there, for sure. Players are not stupid. Players think, ‘I will be a better player under this manager.'”

Everton

Still surreal

It’ll never fully sink in for us that Carlo Ancelotti, one of Europe’s most successful and respected managers, is the boss at Everton Football Club.

Something about that just doesn’t seem right, yet it never goes unappreciated, and reminders of the Italian’s pedigree help to cement just how fortunate the club are.

Ancelotti certainly has brought a degree of stability to Goodison Park and he’s only had one summer transfer window to shape his squad to his specifications.

Whether Everton are able to qualify for Europe for not before the end of the season remains to be seen, but it couldn’t be clearer that the Toffees are on the right path with Carlo at the helm.

Farhad Moshiri also deserves credit for being able to attract someone of Ancelotti’s calibre to replace Marco Silva, particularly with many in the media indicating that David Moyes or Mikel Arteta were the best the club could hope for.

Ancelotti has the ability and the patience to succeed with Everton, and now we need to continue to trust him and support his team.

In other Everton news, the Toffees want to sign a Ligue 1 midfielder who is admired by a former Everton star.
