Kevin Campbell predicts Everton will draw in clash v Aston Villa
We’re delighted to welcome former Everton striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week the former Toffees captain will be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Goodison Park…
Kevin Campbell predicts a draw between Everton and Aston Villa when the two clubs meet at Goodison Park on Saturday.
Despite beating Arsenal last week, Everton come into the game against the Villans out of form while Villa are now winless in three in the Premier League.
Everton have more to play for as the race for Europe continues to heat up, though Villa will be eyeing a top half finish as they currently sit just below the dividing line.
Speaking exclusively to Goodison News, Campbell explained that the underwhelming form of both clubs would most likely result in the game ending level.
Campbell said of the game: “It’s got a draw written all over it.
“Both team’s are kind of struggling for a bit of form, they’re up and down in their consistency, so I see it being a draw.
“I don’t usually sit on the fence on scores, but I just see this one being a draw.
“I think they’ll get one (goal) each.”
Despite beating Arsenal at the Emirates for the first time since the Gunners moved to their current stadium on Friday, the Blues hardly turned in an impressive display.
Bernd Leno’s entirely avoidable own goal sealed the result for the Toffees, and aside from that goal it never looked as though Everton were going to score past Mikel Arteta’s men.
Everton have more to fight for than Aston Villa do this weekend, but the Blues will still need to be on their best form if they are to find a way past the Midlands club’s resolute defence.
