Alan Brazil moots Manchester City exit for Everton star Dominic Calvert-Lewin
Alan Brazil has suggested that Premier League leaders Manchester City could make a move for Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin this summer.
Calvert-Lewin, 24, has been in the goals for the Blues this season, scoring 15 in 28 league appearances to help Carlo Ancelotti’s side to eighth with five games remaining.
His form in 2020 led BBC Sport pundit Garth Crooks to call him “phenomenal” and put him in his Premier League team of the year.
The England international has a contract at the club until 2025 [Transfermarkt] but speaking on talkSPORT Breakfast [06:00, 03/05/21] Brazil thinks an exit could be on the cards.
“Calvert-Lewin looks like he has class to me,” he said.
“He’s very graceful, he’s a good runner and he leaps beautifully, is he bound for a move out of Goodison Park?”
Watford striker Troy Deeney replied, “You’re asking some tough ones today Alan.
“You look at the other big boys and where does he add to them? No, I don’t think he leaves, Everton is the place for him at this time.
Brazil: “Manchester City, are they gonna go big? Will they take a chance on someone who scores goals in the Premier League?”
Deeney: “No they will go bigger, I don’t know technically if he’s up there for what Pep [Guardiola] wants to do.”
Button it, Brazil
The talkSPORT host seems to have taken a dual role as Calvert-Lewin’s agent in recent months.
It’s not the first time he’s linked our star striker with a move to a Premier League rival.
Only last month on talkSPORT [09/04/21] the former Scotland international was asking if he “could do it at a high-pressure club like Chelsea” who “need him”.
He’s also taken his fair share of digs at Richarlison and the Blues.
Brazil might be desperate to see Calvert-Lewin line up elsewhere next season but we can’t fathom the thought that Marcel Brands or Carlo Ancelotti would sanction a Goodison Park exit this summer.
He’s an indispensable member of our starting XI and the team must be built around him.
