Simon Jordan backs Dominic Calvert-Lewin for lengthy Everton stay amid Jim White claim

Simon Jordan is adamant Dominic Calvert-Lewin will be staying at Everton for years to come, despite Jim White mooting a major move for the Blues striker.

Calvert-Lewin, 24, has enjoyed a sensational 2020/21 Premier League campaign with 16 goals in 29 games so far, and only four players have netted more than the forward labelled a “nightmare to mark” by Jamie Redknapp. [Daily Mail]

Such form has led to widespread conjecture about his future, with the likes of talkSPORT’s Alan Brazil linking him with moves to Manchester City and Chelsea.

The subject was broached once again on talkSPORT, this time after an interview with the striker that aired on the White & Jordan show [12/05/21].

White began the conversation: “Who’s to say where it ends up for Dominic to be honest.

“There may be a whopping great move further down the line for him and I wouldn’t be at all surprised.”

Jordan replied, “He’s at a whopping great club, [Farhad] Moshiri has got big ambitions, they’re building a new stadium and they’ve got a very strong manager in there.

“The ambition at Everton is not low so I don’t think Calvert-Lewin needs to move anywhere quite frankly.”

Former Manchester City player Sinclair also chimed into the debate, “There’s probably not that many suitors, obviously Manchester City is the obvious one but he’s at a great club with a lot of tradition.”

Bright future on Merseyside

Jordan’s absolutely spot on, why would Calvert-Lewin even consider a move away from Everton?

We’re at an exciting stage of our development as a club, with big plans for the future.

The squad is already competitive in the Premier League with a European spot still likely this season, but we’re set for monumental growth in the coming years.

With Moshiri’s millions behind us and a world-class manager like Carlo Ancelotti patrolling the sidelines the sky really is the limit for the Blues.

We splashed out on some important recruits last summer and this year looks like being no different, with some key areas of the pitch still to be addressed.

A new striker will be one such target, but that won’t be at the expense of Calvert-Lewin, who has been our leading light for the past 18 months.

His starting spot in the team is secure, something that might not be guaranteed elsewhere, so we think he’ll be around for years to come.
