Kevin Campbell expresses delight at Doucoure return for Everton
We’re delighted to welcome former Everton striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week the former Toffees captain will be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Goodison Park…
Kevin Campbell has expressed delight at seeing Abdoulaye Doucoure back in action for Everton after suffering through a lengthy injury lay-off.
The French midfielder has become a crucial player at Goodison Park since signing from Watford last summer, however he had been sidelined since early March with a fractured ankle.
Having made a fairly quick recovery however, Doucoure returned to the bench against West Ham last week before starting and playing the duration of the club’s clash with Aston Villa on Thursday.
Speaking exclusively to Goodison News, Campbell was especially pleased to see the 28-year old return for the Toffees, believing Everton suffered in his absence.
Campbell said: “It was really great to see him.

“They’ve really missed him. They’ve missed his legs, his ability to break things up in midfield, to support in attack and to defend; he’s an all-rounder, he’s a box-to-box player.
“You only really realise that you miss him when he’s not there so it’s great to see him come back.”
Everton don’t have a single other midfielder that can do the same job as Doucoure, so his absence has certainly been felt.
Allan and Tom Davies have both done terrifically when relied upon this season but neither works as hard as Doucoure, either in dictating tempo or in covering every blade of grass.
Drawing against Aston Villa might have ruined the club’s chances at qualifying for Europe this season, but any further hopes they may have will have been boosted by Doucoure’s return.
In other Everton news, a Sky Sports pundit blasted this out of control Blues player in the draw against Villa.
