Three things to watch for in Everton clash v Sheffield United

Everton failed to build on their performance against West Ham last week with a meagre display against Aston Villa on Thursday.

The Toffees could only draw with the Villans with neither side able to carve out any clear-cut goalscoring opportunities.

Failing to beat Villa put a huge dent in the club’s hopes of qualifying for Europe this season, however Carlo Ancelotti will want to see a response against Sheffield United.

Ahead of this evening’s clash with the Blades, we at Goodison News have picked out three things that fans should watch out for in this upcoming encounter.

Everton

Can’t afford complacency

Having already been relegated, Sheffield United are able to play free of consequence, and that means there will be less pressure on their shoulders.

Everton meanwhile still have something to play for and they can’t afford to approach the game with the wrong mentality. Hopefully we’ll see committed performances and hard work.

Everton

Creative input

Everton are finally set to have James Rodriguez back in action and the club must play entirely to his strengths.

The Blues have been somewhat creatively stunted over the past few weeks and they now have a chance to be more expressive and expansive, and hopefully we’ll see Rodriguez at the heart of that.

Everton

Minutes for King, finally?

Josh King still hasn’t started a game for Everton and we wouldn’t bank on Ancelotti handing him a starting position any time soon, but there’s no reason that we shouldn’t expect him to feature against the Blades.

Though Everton must treat the game seriously, out of their remaining three fixtures Sheffield United are the side that King could most hope to impress against, and we hope we’ll see him feature a bit more prominently before the season ends.
