Kevin Campbell praises 'very good' Everton star Tom Davies
We’re delighted to welcome former Everton striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week the former Toffees captain will be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Goodison Park…
Kevin Campbell has heaped praise on Tom Davies following the Everton midfielder’s development for the club this season.
Davies has been a somewhat divisive figure on Merseyside in the past, with the 22-year old having failed to impress consistently when called upon by the Blues.
The England youth international broke through as a first-team regular in the 2016/17 and promised to be a future star, though he’s struggled to maintain the same level of impact since then.
Davies has hugely improved his performances this season however, consistently showing up for the Toffees when called upon, even though Carlo Ancelotti hasn’t elected to start him as much as he perhaps deserves.
Speaking exclusively to Goodison News, Campbell was quick to praise the midfielder for having adapted to life under Ancelotti, claiming the ability of last summer’s signings saw him raise his level.

Campbell said: “He has improved under Carlo Ancelotti, whereas at first he wasn’t at that standard.
“When you get Doucoure in, you get Allan in and you get James Rodriguez, other players have to step up and he has stepped up.
“He’s been very good, he has.”
Davies has offered himself up to be a valuable squad player this season, often filling in when other players have been unavailable.
Allan spent two months of the season out injured between December and February, and Davies admirably stepped up in that time frame, while he was partnered with Allan after Doucoure’s injury in March to great effect.
Should Everton sign a midfielder this summer Davies could find his minutes further restricted, and he would have the right to feel aggrieved after a successful personal campaign for the boyhood Evertonian.
