Three things to watch for in Everton clash v Wolves

Everton suffered their ninth home loss in the Premier League this season last weekend when Sheffield United claimed the spoils at Goodison Park.

The Blades took an early lead through 17-year old debutant Daniel Jebbison, and despite Everton having a strong line-up they couldn’t mount a comeback, losing 1-0.

With the loss to Sheffield United, Everton’s hopes of qualifying for Europe suffered a major hit, with their remaining games against Wolves and Manchester City making the situation appear even more dire.

Ahead of Wednesday’s clash against Nuno Espirito Santo’s side, we at Goodison News have picked out three things that fans should watch out for in this upcoming encounter.

Defensive realignment

Everton continued to show defensive weaknesses against Sheffield United, indicating that a change in shape has to be applied going forward.

Carlo Ancelotti reverted back to a back-four for the second half and that worked much better, and so we hope to see him stick with that traditional shape when facing Wolves on Wednesday.

Stranded

Dominic Calvert-Lewin found himself completely isolated for the majority of the game at Goodison Park, unable to contend with United’s trio of central defenders, and that ineffectiveness blunted Everton’s attack.

The Blues simply must find ways to free up Calvert-Lewin and get him into space, because if he’s out of the game then the club might as well be too.

Everton

Be counted

Richarlison has coasted for much of the season, and though his work rate can’t be questioned, his ability to create with the ball certainly can be.

Not only a natural goalscorer but also someone who is capable of taking on defenders and providing assists for his teammates, we need to see much, much more from the Brazilian, because right now we’re not getting enough from him.
