Report: Everton make contact to sign Sergio Romero on a free transfer
Everton have reportedly made contact with Manchester United goalkeeper Sergio Romero who is out of contract in the summer.
According to Stretty News’ Leah Smith, the Merseyside outfit are keen on roping in the Argentine who guided his country to the 2014 World Cup final.
Italian duo Roma and Juventus are also keen on signing the player and Smith believes that the latter are the favourites to secure his services this summer.

Romero, who has been labelled as ‘brilliant‘ by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, is a player who’s been on Everton’s radar since last summer and the Toffees were keen on signing him on transfer deadline day.
However, that move fell through because Manchester United were demanding a transfer fee rather than letting the player leave on a loan.
Now, it seems like the Toffees have reignited their interest and will be looking to sign him ahead of their Italian counterparts.
Should pursue Olsen instead
Everton have been looking to sign a Jordan Pickford backup and there have been reports of us exploring the possibilities of signing Robin Olsen permanently.
He’s done well in Pickford’s absence and Ancelotti has been impressed with the performances of his goalkeeping unit this term.
Signing Romero as a third-choice won’t be feasible as he is leaving Manchester United because of his lack of playing time and will not get it at Goodison Park.
Should Olsen not sign permanently, then the Argentine will become a viable option for us.
However, with Juventus and Roma lurking, both of whom could offer the 34-year-old more first-team minutes than we can.
Gianluigi Buffon will leave the Turin outfit at the end of the season following his second spell at the Allianz Stadium. With Wojciech Szczesny also being linked with a potential summer exit, per Tuttosport, Romero could even see himself fighting for the number one spot.
