Three things to watch for in Everton clash v Man City
Everton won their final home game of the season against Wolves on Thursday, and now they face a fight to qualify for Europe on Sunday.
The Blues will need other results to fall in their favour if they are to reach Europe, but regardless of those results they will need to get something from Manchester City.
Despite losing to Brighton earlier this week, City still have plenty to play for against Everton, with Pep Guardiola certain to want momentum heading into the club’s Champions League final next week.
Ahead of Sunday’s clash against the Cityzens, we at Goodison News have picked out three things that fans should watch out for in this upcoming encounter.
Defensive solidity
Sergio Aguero might not be fit to feature prominently at the Etihad, but in reality it doesn’t matter who City start up front against the Toffees.
Guardiola has so many strong options and they’ll all pose a threat, so Everton must ensure they are organised and disciplined in defence.
Players must step up
With James Rodriguez unfortunately not available to feature, Everton need their other creative outlets to provide for Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
Richarlison and Gylfi Sigurdsson have coasted on occasion this season but they’ll need to make themselves count if the club harbour any hope of beating the City.
Finally time?
Josh King still has yet to start for Everton and with his long-term future with the club uncertain, could we hope to see him feature against the newly crowned champions?
The Norwegian forward has earned a chance to impress, and hopefully Ancelotti might consider giving him the opportunity, despite the importance of the occasion.
