Kevin Campbell doesn’t believe Ancelotti would trade Everton for Real Madrid

We’re delighted to welcome former Everton striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week the former Toffees captain will be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Goodison Park…

Kevin Campbell does not think Carlo Ancelotti would entertain an offer from Real Madrid to become manager at the Santiago Bernabeu.

It was reported earlier this month that Madrid were considering bringing Ancelotti back to Spain after Zinedine Zidane failed to deliver the La Liga title.

Ancelotti previously managed Los Blancos between 2013 and 2015, leading the club to La Decima, Madrid’s tenth Champions League title.

Speaking exclusively to Goodison News, Campbell dismissed reports of Ancelotti leaving, claiming the Italian enjoys having a project at Goodison Park.

Campbell said: “I’ve not heard the Ancelotti story from Madrid but I’m sure the people of Madrid are going to want a steady hand.

“For me I can’t see Ancelotti doing it solely because he’s been there and done it, and is it going to be long-term or short-term?

“He’s got a project to do at Goodison, he likes Liverpool and he likes the project, and obviously with the new stadium they’re building up, there’s a plan and they want him to be the manager.

“Yes, it’s gone a little bit sour come the end of the season but he knows what’s needed and he’s doing it strategically. He’s not throwing loads of money at it, he’s doing it little by little and if you can do that then you can bring the squad forward.”

Ancelotti has repeatedly stressed how much he is enjoying life on Merseyside, and though he hasn’t always found the success that he would like on the pitch, it’s a long-term process.

The Italian seems to be thriving in a different environment that he is used to and we don’t see him leaving the Blues to return to Spain any time soon.

In other Everton news, a pundit has backed the Blues to sign this “incredible” nine-goal attacker.
