Everton are yet to make indication of summer move for Robin Olsen
Everton have yet to communicate plans to sign Robin Olsen with the Swede’s employers Roma, according to a new report from Italy.
The 31-year old goalkeeper moved to Goodison Park on a season-long loan last summer as someone who could compete with and challenge starter Jordan Pickford.
Carlo Ancelotti took an immediate liking to the Sweden international, explaining in December that he wanted to keep him on a permanent transfer at the end of the season.
Forza Roma reported in March that Everton had remained resolute in their desire to see Olsen continue on Merseyside following the end of their Premier League campaign.
According to a new report from Corriere dello Sport though, Roma are yet to hear from Everton about a potential deal this summer.
Corriere claim that Roma hope the Blues still wish to keep Olsen, with the Swede having no future at the Stadio Olimpico, though they have not received any signals from Everton.
No surprise
Everton are notoriously slow to act in the transfer window, so it isn’t so much a surprise that they’ve yet to make contact with Roma.
Carlo Ancelotti has repeatedly stressed his desire to sign ‘fantastic‘ Olsen in the summer with Everton needing to secure a back-up goalkeeping option ahead of an important Premier League campaign.
Pickford has remained Ancelotti’s first-choice at Goodison Park but Olsen has still featured a number of times, impressing in seven Premier League games for the Blues.
Ancelotti and Marcel Brands have plenty of work to do in strengthening his squad in the summer with a number of positions needing strengthening and signing another goalkeeper is work he doesn’t need.
Should Olsen wish to remain with Everton beyond the end of his loan deal we hope that the Toffees can get business wrapped up quickly.
Either way it doesn’t seem as though Roma have any desire to keep the shot-stopper, so Everton shouldn’t find it difficult to secure either another loan or a more permanent solution.
