Everton offered Nuno Espirito Santo to replace Carlo Ancelotti amid Real Madrid links
Carlo Ancelotti could be replaced by Nuno Espirito Santo in charge of Everton if the Italian opts to join Real Madrid, according to AS.
On Monday night, La Larguero reported that Real are considering re-hiring Ancelotti with Zinedine Zidane quitting the Bernabeu club after a poor season and talks were held four days ago.
AS have added some extra information, claiming that former Wolves boss Nuno has already been offered to the Toffees and he’ll be the man to replace Ancelotti in the Goodison Park hot seat should he join Real Madrid.
If Carlo was going to go…
We really don’t want to see Ancelotti leave Everton.
He’s only been here a year and a half and although we slumped to a poor finish in the Premier League this season, you could see there was a massive improvement to the squad.
If Ancelotti is given time and resources then he can build a legacy at Goodison but if he’s going to go, Nuno would not be a bad replacement at all.
The Portuguese manager did a wonderful job at Wolves.
Yes, he was backed by big-money owners from China and yes, Jorge Mendes’ influence at Molineux helped him poach a number of top players from Portugal.
However, Nuno is still Mendes’ client and there’s no doubt that connection could help Marcel Brands in the recruitment department at Goodison Park.
Wolves fans were shocked by Nuno’s exit, as was their legendary former striker Steve Bull.
In a recent interview with the Express & Star, Bull said Nuno was doing a “brilliant job” at the West Midlands club despite performing below expectations this season.
We think he’d do a brilliant job here too but we’ll reiterate the fact that we want Ancelotti to stay and we hope this Real Madrid speculation is no more than just a rumour.
