Real Madrid to confirm Carlo Ancelotti arrival from Everton within hours

Carlo Ancelotti is set to quit Everton and be unveiled as the new Real Madrid manager “in the next few hours”, according to Marca.

The Spanish news outlet claims Ancelotti never closed the door on a potential return to the Bernabeu, where he was sacked in 2015 just a year after winning the Champions League.

It is understood Real Madrid turn their attention towards the Italian after Paris Saint-Germain refused to let Mauricio Pochettino leave and complications surrounding Antonio Conte despite his exit from Inter Milan.

Out of the blue

Well, this has all happened very quickly.

On Monday night, there were murmurings on social media about Ancelotti being wanted by Real Madrid but it’s taken around 12 hours for things to escalate massively.

If the Spanish press is right then Ancelotti might not be Everton manager by the end of the day.

It leaves Marcel Brands and Bill Kenwright with a lot of work on their hands – work that was largely unexpected.

However, there’s no doubt that Ancelotti’s exit will net the Blues a decent compensation fee that will help them find a replacement or add to the transfer budget.

One replacement has already been mooted with AS reporting that ex-Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo has been offered to the Toffees.

Based on the job he did at Molineux, we’d be happy to take him as he’d also help in the recruitment department due to his links to Portugal.

Ruben Neves, anyone?
