Didier Drogba reacts to Carlo Ancelotti's Everton departure
Didier Drogba has taken to Instagram to react as his former boss Carlo Ancelotti leaves Everton for Real Madrid.
The Italian walked away from Goodison Park yesterday after just 17 months into the four-and-a-half-year deal he signed when he joined the Toffees in December 2019.
Ancelotti and Everton were already in talks over summer transfer plans for next season, but that came crashing down when Madrid came calling.
The former Chelsea manager took to social media yesterday to say his goodbyes, wishing the players, fans and club all the very best going forward.
Drogba appears to be delighted that Ancelotti has gotten a big job, taking to the comments section to reply thus:
Big blow for Everton
The Blues have started looking for a new manager, but that was never in the plan a few days ago.
Ancelotti’s successor will be coming with his own backroom staff and transfer plans, and some major squad changes should be expected this summer.
We hope Everton can get this decision right as they cannot afford to land another manager who will struggle to deliver a top-seven finish next season.
Ancelotti was not able to get the job done despite his huge experience and track record, and his departure may just end up becoming a blessing in disguise.
We were not able to impress at home despite our splendid form on the road.
Everton won just six league games at Goodison Park in 2020-21, losing nine, while we recorded 11 victories away from home and lost four times.
The new manager must be able to get the needed results home and away, and we cannot wait to see who becomes trusted with the huge job ahead.
In other Everton news, a report has shared what Ancelotti told Farhad Moshiri when he forced his way out of Goodison.
