Everton could hijack Crystal Palace bid to hire Nuno Espirito Santo
Crystal Palace could be dealt a hammer blow in their bid to hire Nuno Espirito Santo as their next manager amid interest from Everton, according to The Times.
The newspaper reports that Nuno, 47, has held talks about replacing Roy Hodgson at Selhurst Park but Carlo Ancelotti’s exit from Everton may cause an issue.
It is understood that the Blues are interested in the former Wolves manager and could hijack Palace’s approach to hire him.
No Nuno for Palace?
It came as a bit of a shock when Wolves announced Nuno would leaving at the end of the season.
The Portuguese manager led them to the Championship title and to European football, with this last season the only real blot on what has been a stellar managerial career in English football.
Wolves fans didn’t seem to want Nuno to go and that’s the mark of a good manager.
We’d be happy to see the former Porto goalkeeper and manager come in to replace Ancelotti, who clearly wouldn’t know loyalty if it smacked him in the face.
Nuno’s Wolves haven’t played the most thrilling of football but after seeing Ancelotti, Marco Silva and Sam Allardyce struggle to get us off our seats with their brand, at least Nuno’s style could lead to success in terms of results.
We want two things as Everton fans.
We’d love to win a domestic trophy, whether it’s the FA Cup or the Carabao Cup, and we’d also love to qualify for Europe.
That should be the aim for the next one or two seasons and with Nuno, we believe that’s achievable.
