Everton open talks with Nuno Espirito Santo, Farhad Moshiri left thrilled – report

Farhad Moshiri has been left thrilled by Nuno Espirito Santo as Everton look to secure a replacement for Carlo Ancelotti this week.

Sky Sports have reported that the Toffees have opened talks with the former Wolves man on Wednesday, and place him in pole position at Goodison Park.

David Moyes also remains a contender to return to Merseyside but appears to have secured his future with West Ham for the next three years.

Sky Sports shared the major update on Wednesday on their website and insisted that Nuno has strong backing from the Everton board.

“Majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri has been impressed with Wolves’ development under the Portuguese coach – and sees him as an excellent fit to work with the present squad,” they wrote.

Excellent.

Nuno has definitely overachieved during his time at Molineux over the years, getting them promoted and then qualifying for Europe at the first time of asking.

He comes with a clear plan, and if it wasn’t for injuries to key players, he could have stayed at Wolves for more than he did.

Moshiri being thrilled by the prospect of Santo could lead to him being significantly backed over the upcoming summer too.

Ancelotti was given big money to bring in the likes of Abdoulaye Doucoure, James Rodriguez and Allan, and it has to be the same this year.

The signs looked good for the majority of the season, but after a late collapse, Europe was taken away, that has to be the main goal next year.

Is Nuno the man to do it? It looks as though Moshiri thinks so.
