Duncan Castle claims Nuno wants to bring Pedro Neto to Everton if appointed
The Times’ football reporter Duncan Castles has said that Everton managerial favourite Nuno Espirito Santo wants to bring in Pedro Neto with him to Goodison Park.
In The Transfer Window podcast, Castles was joined by Ian McGarry to discuss the managerial situation at Everton and life under the new person at the helm.
Castles believes former Wolves boss Nuno is the favourite and has now revealed that the Portuguese will be looking to sign his compatriot Neto from the Molineux this summer.

Speaking about Everton’s interest in the Portugal international, Castles said, “Everton’s finances are not great, which is what Nuno wants to know from Everton which is what degree of spending he’ll be allowed to do, what changes he’ll be allowed to make.
“One individual mentioned here is Pedro Neto. He would like to take him to Everton, in an ideal world.
“Everton have been interested in Neto for some time and Neto is available for sale this summer and one of a number of players Wolves have put on the market in an attempt to raise cash in order to rebuild the team.”

Having joined Wolves last season, the 21-year-old took a while to adapt to life in the Premier League, making just nine starts and 20 appearances off the bench in his debut campaign.
However, this past season, Neto’s been one of Wolves’ best players. He’s started in 30 league games for Nuno, and quickly became one of the former FC Porto manager’s favourite players at the club.
Nuno was the man influential in bringing him to England, and the prospect of having him work under the Portuguese at Goodison Park certainly sends shivers down our spines.

The Wolves attacker, despite being 21 and part of an extremely talented Portuguese roster, has gone on to make three international caps. However, he narrowly missed out on a spot in Fernando Santos’ European Championships squad.
A move to Everton would undoubtedly be a step up and give Neto a better chance of cementing himself in the Portugal squad for the long term.
This is a signing that’s unlikely to come on the cheap, with Transfermarkt valuing the player at £31.5m.
However, given what we’ve witnessed in his two seasons in England, for a talented 21-year-old in today’s market, that’s a price you have to pay.
