Moshiri met Jorge Mendes in London on Monday to discuss Everton vacancy
Farhad Moshiri met super-agent Jorge Mendes in London on Monday to discuss potentially hiring Nuno Espirito Santo as the next Everton manager, according to The Times.
Nuno is out of work after leaving Wolves last month and has already seen talks to be the next Crystal Palace boss hit the skids due to wage demands and other factors.
It is understood that Everton have held talks about a number of candidates to succeed Carlo Ancelotti at Goodison Park and Nuno is seemingly one that majority shareholder Moshiri is very keen on.
Nuno is clearly Moshiri’s No 1
Nuno did a great job at Wolves.
Not only did he win the Championship title with them in emphatic fashion but he also helped establish the Midlands club in the Premier League and win qualification to the Europa League.
Sure, Wolves had a bad season this time around but for most of it, they were missing star striker Raul Jimenez and other teams, such as West Ham and Leeds, punched above their weight.
Everton need to more regular competitors for the top six and you feel as though if Nuno can do it at Wolves, he can do it at Goodison.
Mendes, his agent, has links to top players across Europe and that has helped Wolves grow into the club they are now – as well as their rich Chinese owners, of course.
But we have rich owners too, we just need someone who can commit to the job for several years, improve the players he wants to keep, get rid of the ones he doesn’t and bring in ones who can make an impact.
We trust Nuno can do that and that is perhaps why Moshiri is taking a liking to the ex-Porto boss.
