Kevin Campbell urges Everton to make move for Antonio Conte - Exclusive
We’re delighted to welcome former Everton striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week the former Toffees captain will be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Goodison Park…
Kevin Campbell has insisted that Antonio Conte would be a realistic appointment for Everton this summer.
The Italian has left Inter Milan after bringing home the Serie A title, but serious financial problems led to his departure.
Campbell has hit back at outsiders claiming it isn’t possible, sharing that the Toffees have the money, power and project to attract anyone.
Speaking exclusively to Goodison News, Campbell said, “I definitely look at the top managers that are available, that’s Conte.
“If you could get Ancelotti, this is where people say Conte would never go to Everton, well, neither would Ancelotti, I was told, but he went.
“Everton have some power, they have some money, so why not? The project is a great one for the top managers.”
Bringing Conte to Goodison Park would be a massive statement.
The Italian would arguably be an even bigger appointment than Ancelotti was at the time, with his stock very high after that Serie A win.
Tottenham have also been linked with a move, but it appears as though they missed out after talks broke down.
Should Farhad Moshiri convince Conte after that collapsed move to Spurs, it would make the message even bigger.
With the new stadium around the corner, this new season simply has to produce European football, or it would be yet another failure.
