Guillem Balague: Rafa Benitez is ‘perfect’ appointment by Everton
Everton appear to be on the verge of announcing Rafa Benitez as their new manager at the end of this week.
TalkSPORT and Jim White have reported that the announcement is on the brink after positive talks on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Guillem Balague is an expert on Spanish football and believes this could be the “perfect” appointment for the Toffees.
Writing on his personal Twitter account, Balague responded to a fan asking for his verdict on the pending appointment.
“Perfect choice for this moment when the club wants to keep building strong foundations and create the conditions to win regularly,” he replied.
“Simple.”
Perfect?
Time will tell, but this is one of the appointments that will forever leave people scratching their heads, and sitting on either side of the fence.
Benitez is a huge name, he has won the Champions League, and could easily bring success back to Goodison Park.
The big question remains over his allegiance after his spell at Liverpool, of course, Everton will be his main priority, but old clips have already surfaced of him calling the Toffees a small club.
Liverpool fans may not be able to handle that, but another big win at Anfield next season with Rafa in charge may leave them in tears.
It will be best to judge Benitez on his results, and it will be harsh for everyone to write the Spaniard off instantly, he may just be “perfect.”
