Rafa Benitez handed Everton warning by Richard Keys as Andy Gray sends Farhad Moshiri message
Richard Keys and Jason McAteer fear Rafa Benitez and Everton could be on a hiding to nothing if the Spaniard is appointed as Blues boss this summer.
The ex-Liverpool manager is reported to be of huge interest to Everton owner Farhad Moshiri as they search for Carlo Ancelotti’s successor, following his exit to Real Madrid at the start of June.
Speaking on beIN SPORTS [19/06/21], former Liverpool midfielder McAteer doesn’t think the move would be accepted by Reds.

“I was just looking at it from a Liverpool perspective and thinking ‘this is not going to be accepted from our side’,” he said.
“He always had an inkling, maybe before Jurgen Klopp, that he might get asked back by Liverpool, and he would jump at the chance, but it’s never come about.
“But he loses respect.”
“Michael Owen found it out, he made a cataclysmic error joining Manchester United, and his stock didn’t plummet, it hit rock-bottom,” Keys added.
Ex-Blues striker Andy Gray chimed in: “Farhad, sort yourself out.”
Major mistake
It’s only been a short window since we first heard Benitez could move to the Blues, but we’re already sick of repeating ourselves – this would be a monumental error of judgement by the club.
Not only are his recent managerial jobs nothing to shout about, but he was once a fierce supporter of Liverpool who despised every fraction of Everton – enough said.
It’s not a good sign of character if he’s prepared to forego those feelings just for another payday.
If he was getting opportunities from other big sides he would probably turn us down, but it appears as if we’re the only mugs who want him.
It’s convenient for him – he lives close by, so doesn’t have to go to too much trouble integrating himself, and he’ll surely be due a big payout if the inevitable happens and he’s sacked.
It’s a disastrous set of circumstances we found ourselves in, and hiring Benitez would just make it so much worse and lead to crushing disappointment and anger among fans.
