Everton make contact with Mino Raiola over PSV right-back Denzel Dumfries

Everton have made contact with super-agent Mino Raiola over a deal for his client Denzel Dumfries, according to the Sunday [20/06/21] print edition of Sport.

The Spanish news outlet claims the PSV right-back is also being courted by Inter Milan and Bayern Munich who have both stepped up their interest in the 25-year-old.

The Italian and German giants, along with Everton, are reported to have called Raiola, who advises a number of the world’s top football stars, including Paul Pogba and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Dumfries is currently starring on international duty with the Netherlands after scoring two goals in two games at Euro 2020.

Sport, as translated by Sport Witness, have dubbed him the “revelation” of the tournament so far.

However, he came under severe scrutiny from Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville in 2019 when the Netherlands faced England during a Nations League fixture, with the ex-Manchester United star exclaiming that he’s “not a defender, at all”.

He told Sky Sports [06/06/19], via Chronicle Live: “From the first minute everything has looked off.”

Price going up

Dumfries is a player that we have been linked with for a number of months, and it seemed an obvious fit given his characteristics.

He’s Dutch, so he has that connection with Everton’s director of football Marcel Brands who used to work at PSV and could potentially work on a bargain deal.

His attacking abilities, highlighted by his Euro 2020 displays, show his capability of playing further forward, something which would have been extremely valuable under previous Blues boss Carlo Ancelotti, who implemented a similar 5-3-2 formation to the one employed by Frank De Boer for the Netherlands.

But failing to agree a deal before the Euros has led to this inevitable point, where Dumfries has become one of the hottest properties in Europe, and some big boys are now after his signature.

He looks a big talent, and we have a pressing requirement for a new right-back given Seamus Coleman’s advancing years and lack of cover behind him, but we may about to witness the magic of Raiola as we seeks to secure the biggest move for his client.

In other Everton news, a journalist has accused this Blues-linked manager of greed in major Jurgen Klopp warning to Farhad Moshiri.
