Kevin Campbell reacts to Everton links with Marcelo – Exclusive
We’re delighted to welcome former Everton striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week the former Toffees captain will be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Goodison Park…
Kevin Campbell has warned Everton off the potential signing of Real Madrid left-back Marcelo this summer.
The Mirror has linked the Toffees with a shock transfer for the Brazilian, with Leeds also suggested to be interested.
Campbell labelled it as only paper talk, insisting Marcelo couldn’t deal with the brutal nature of the Premier League.

Speaking exclusively to Goodison News, Campbell said, “I think it’s paper talk.
“In the end, if you can’t cut it at Real Madrid, the Premier League is going to be even more brutal, I’ll be honest with you.
“I think he’s still a decent player, but he hasn’t got the engine anymore.”

Smarter.
This is where Marcel Brands has to be much smarter.
There is no real chance of this happening, with Lucas Digne the obvious number one choice at left-back, and no real need to replace him.
Marcelo has since been tipped to stay in La Liga under Carlo Ancelotti, thankfully meaning we could be set to miss out.
It isn’t a huge miss, and Brands should concentrate his energy on players such as Denzel Dumfries who is currently shining at the EUROs and would add so much to this side.
The Toffees and their new manager need reinforcements desperately and make this into a winning squad, rather than a decent starting XI.
