Everton star Lucas Digne suffers injury during France Euro 2020 clash
Everton defender Lucas Digne could be set to miss the rest of Euro 2020 after suffering an injury on Wednesday night, according to Guy Mowbray.
The BBC commentator made the suggestion during live coverage [23/06/21] of France versus Portugal, where Digne was forced off in the 52nd minute after only coming on at half-time.
“Something’s gone there,” Mowbray said as Digne went down injured.

“It’s a nightmare, absolute nightmare,” ex-England midfielder Jermaine Jenas responded.
Mowbray: “What an awful moment for Lucas Digne of Everton. One would think that’s his tournament over. That must be horrible, all that work.”
Jenas: “He’s fuming, he knows what it means. If he’s pulled his quad, he’ll be out.”

Extremely unfortunate
It’s desperately disappointing news for Digne, who would have been looking to nail down a starting spot for France ahead of the knock-out stages of the tournament.
The 27-year-old was on bench duties for France’s first fixture against Germany but he was handed a starting berth in their 1-1 draw against Hungary.
He was replaced by Lucas Hernandez for their third and final group game with Portugal on Wednesday night, but his opportunity came when the Bayern Munich defender was substituted at half-time.
It was Digne’s time to shine ahead of the knock-out round, a chance to really stake his claim to be in the starting XI for the reigning World Cup winners.
But his night ended in disappointment as he picked up what looked like a concerning injury.
He was able to walk off the pitch so it doesn’t appear to be a problem that will cause long-term damage, but it may well rule him out of the rest of Euro 2020, which would be a huge personal disappointment to him.
He suffered from an injury last season that kept him out of the Blues side for a couple of months as well, so this really would put the icing on a frustrating season for him.
In other Everton news, this huge change that Farhad Moshiri wants could be blocked due to the Premier League’s rules.
