Romelu Lukaku admits his debut against Newcastle was his best moment at Everton
Belgium centre-forward Romelu Lukaku is currently vying for the Golden Boot at Euro 2020, but he has taken to Twitter to reminisce about his Everton days.
The Inter Milan hitman is currently starring at the European Championships with three goals in as many games, and will be looking to lead his country to glory.
Lukaku honed his goalscoring skills at Goodison Park, bagging 87 goals in 166 games across four seasons.
He was asked during a Q & A session on Twitter by Adam – a Toffees fan – what his best moment at Everton was, and he replied thus:
We miss Lukaku
The 28-year-old joined Everton on loan from Chelsea in 2013-14 before the move was made permanent the following summer for a then club-record fee of £28million [BBC].
Lukaku scored twice and assisted another on his home debut in a 3-2 win over Newcastle United, and the memory remains forever cherished.
We did not win a trophy in his time with us, but he managed to bag individual accolades, emerging as the Everton Young Player of the Season and winning Goal of the Season in 2015-16.
He was named Premier League Player of the Month in March 2017 and PFA Fans’ Player of the Month for August/September 2017.
Lukaku made the PFA Team of the Year and was named both Everton Player of the Season and Everton Players’ Player of the Season in his last campaign with us in 2016-17.
He sealed a £75million [BBC] move to Manchester United that summer, spending two seasons at Old Trafford before joining Inter in the summer of 2019 in a £74million deal [BBC].
The former Everton star led the Serie A giants to their first league title in a decade at the end of last season and has continued to go from strength to strength.
