Everton-linked Pellegrini suggests he’s staying at Real Betis
Manuel Pellegrini has seemingly ruled out the possibility of taking charge at Everton based on his latest interview about Real Betis.
Earlier this month, the Daily Mail reported that the former Manchester City and West Ham manager is a candidate to replace Carlo Ancelotti in the Goodison hot seat.
However, the Liverpool Echo suggests Pellegrini is staying at Real Betis after saying he’s looking forward to managing the Spanish club next season.

“It is exciting and demanding,” Pellegrini told Real Betis’s Youtube channel, as quoted by the Liverpool Echo [3:40pm, Wednesday].
“In my career I have been able to win titles in different countries, play in the Champions League and the Copa Libertadores”
“The challenge is next season. That is why I am still in this profession and I hope to continue for many more years. It motivates me, it entertains me, I don’t do it for money. I like challenges, something was achieved last season and now we are starting from scratch.
“We have a much more difficult season (coming up) than the previous one, against important and big teams. Nobody is going to accept that Betis only participate.”

We didn’t want him anyway
Pellegrini, like Rafa Benitez, is a big-name manager who has a great CV.
The Chilean has won the Premier League title and a couple of League Cups with Manchester City and had a spell in charge at Real Madrid.
However, Pellegrini’s time at West Ham wasn’t a great one with the 67-year-old spending eye-watering sums of money just to assemble a squad that would probably have been relegated if it wasn’t for David Moyes.
Last year, Pellegrini was announced as the Real Betis manager and while that’s not a bad job in Spain, he still only managed a 15th-placed finish in La Liga and finished just five points clear of relegation.
Pellegrini hasn’t had the best time of his career in the last five years or so and it’s best for us to overlook him.
Fortunately, the South American only seems to have been tentatively linked with the job at Goodison Park.
