Gabby Agbonlahor: Everton fans should be fuming with Rafa Benitez

Gabby Agbonlahor has insisted that Everton fans should be fuming with the expected appointment of Rafa Benitez this week.

It has been shared that the Spaniard will most likely be announced on Monday or Tuesday, as the Toffees finally find their man.

Agbonlahor believes that both Farhad Moshiri and Benitez have shown “shocking” conduct throughout the week.

Speaking on talkSPORT over the weekend, Agbonlahor launched a passionate rant on the expected announcement.

“If I’m an Everton fan, I’m fuming,” he said.

“I’m fuming at the club, I’m fuming at the owner, I’m thinking to myself that you’re not listening to the fans.

“There’s already stuff outside the stadium, flags saying they don’t want him, if I’m an owner I’m thinking that the new manager will be under so much pressure.

“From Benitez’ point of view, it’s shocking from him.”

Shocking?

Things appeared to have calmed over the weekend.

Looking from the outside in though, it appears as though fans have just decided to accept the appointment, with Moshiri clearly ignoring those protests.

Initial suggestions claimed the owner was worried, but that must have gone out of the window instantly after more talks with the Spaniard.

Only one thing will change our minds, and that is success.

Benitez simply has to deliver on the pitch, and bringing silverware back to Goodison Park will be the only way of getting fans on his side.

If he doesn’t do just that within one of two seasons, there will be even more protests, proving just how out of touch the board truly are with the fans.

This season will be one of the biggest we have seen in years, but maybe not because of matters on the pitch.
