Kevin Campbell backs Duncan Ferguson for Everton job one day
We’re delighted to welcome former Everton striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week the former Toffees captain will be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Goodison Park…
Kevin Campbell has insisted that Duncan Ferguson will take charge of Everton at one stage in the future.
Rafa Benitez is set to be announced as the new manager at Goodison Park next week, with Big Dunc expected on his backroom staff.
Campbell believes it will be no issue adding Ferguson to the backroom staff of Benitez, despite the clear path to the main job.

Speaking exclusively to Goodison News, Campbell said, “I think so.
“He knows Dunc is an Everton legend, and at some stage of the future, Dunc will manage the football club.
“I think we both know that. Now Rafa Benitez isn’t going to manage the club forever, so if that’s a part of the criteria, I don’t see it being a problem.”

Wow.
This a huge claim to make from Campbell, and it isn’t that straightforward.
Should Benitez bring success to Merseyside yet again, it will stick around long-term and after that, the board would surely want an upgrade.
Ferguson may have a brilliant past and is a club legend, but that doesn’t automatically make you a brilliant manager too.
It will all depend on the job that Benitez does, if he takes us to the next level, we will need another huge name to take over.
Ferguson may have lost his opportunity for the main job the last time he took temporary charge, and Campbell may be wishing too hard for his former teammate.
