Everton striker Calvert-Lewin puts Sky Sports presenter Kaveh Solhekol in his place

Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin has put Sky Sports presenter Kaveh Solhekol in his place after a ridiculous question during a press conference.

The Toffees star is yet to start for England at Euro 2020, with a cameo appearance off the bench against Croatia the only time he has stepped onto the pitch.

The Three Lions play Germany at Wembley in the last-16 on Tuesday, and it remains to be seen whether Calvert-Lewin is in manager Gareth Southgate’s plans for the clash.

As shown on YouTube, Solhekol asked the Everton man: “Obviously you had a fantastic season for Everton, but realistically you are not going to start for England unless Harry Kane is unavailable. How difficult is that?”

DCL was not having any of that, though, replying: “Are you picking the team?”

Ridiculous question

Calvert-Lewin deserves to start against the Germans with Harry Kane drawing blank so far.

The Tottenham Hotspur star is yet to score and failed to register a shot on target in England’s first two games. Southgate has preferred

Marcus Rashford ahead of the Everton star, with the Manchester United forward coming on midway through the second-half in all of the group games.

England only scored twice in their first three games and will need to improve in front of goal against Germany.

While Kane is expected to start, the experienced Solhekol should know better than to ask Calvert-Lewin such a question.

We do not know what Southgate’s plans are, and we really reckon England could do with the Toffees man right now.

At least, he deserves to be given a chance off the bench ahead of Rashford, and failure to deploy one of the best aerial threats in the Premier League could harm the country’s chances at the tournament.
