Jamie Carragher responds to Jim White update on Rafa Benitez-Everton
Jamie Carragher left Jim White laughing when he responded to the news that Rafa Benitez is set to be announced as the new Everton manager.
It was widely reported on Tuesday that Benitez, 61, has signed a three-year deal at Goodison Park and is due to be announced as the new Blues boss imminently.
He’s also been spotted arriving at Finch Farm on Wednesday morning.

When host White told Carragher that Benitez is expected to be officially appointed on Wednesday via talkSPORT [11:12am], the ex-Liverpool defender laughed a lot and then said: “It’s one of those ones where I sit back with the popcorn and watch it all unfold.”
White then laughed and said: “Great answer, Jamie. Why not?”
Aren’t we all, Jamie?
Benitez’s appointment at Everton is one of the stories of the summer.
Who would have thought this time last month that Carlo Ancelotti would be back at Real Madrid and a Liverpool legend would be replacing him at Goodison Park?
When you look at it like that, it is quite hard to believe. But here we are.
Benitez’s appointment is going to be met with a lot of negativity.
We’ve already seen the banners at Goodison Park and one disgusting one that was allegedly supposed to have been put up near the Spaniard’s house on Merseyside.
But none of that matters now. Benitez is here. And we need to support him.
Liverpool legends like Carragher may be sat there and laughing but at the end of the day, Benitez can be seen as betraying them. What has he done wrong to us?
If you’re angry, direct it at the board. But when it comes to matchday, support the players and support the manager.
