Report: Ipswich Town rekindle interest in Everton defender Lewis Gibson
Everton youngster Lewis Gibson is subject to transfer interest from Ipswich Town, according to The East Anglian Daily Times.
The same source reports that the League One outfit were on the cusp of signing the player on loan in the January transfer window in 2020, but the move did not materialise as he took too long to pen an extension at Goodison Park.
Now, they’re back in for the 20-year-old and are looking to sign the player either on loan or permanently.

Not ideal for him
After his failed move to Ipswich, Gibson moved to Fleetwood Town where he put in a good show in the business end of the season.

Having performed decently on loan at Reading this past season, Gibson may feel that in joining the Tractor Boys, he will be taking a step down as he’s tasted Championship football for an entire year.

His contract expires at the end of next season, so loaning him out would mean that could lead to a contract extension.
While he’s still in the fledgling stages of his career, he’s done enough in the Championship and at youth level to possibly merit a new deal.
Since joining the club in 2017 from Newcastle for a fee that could potentially reach £6million, Gibson has become an integral part of our Premier League 2 side whenever he’s not been out on loan.
He’s still to make his senior first-team bow and a loan move away from the club would do him some good. In case we opted to cash in on him, we wouldn’t be able to get much from Ipswich as they might as well wait and sign him on a free next summer.
Ideally, a small pay hike coupled with a two-year extension could be the best way forward.
It’s now down to the club to do as they see fit.
