Rafa Benitez told he will be backed by Everton this summer

Everton have told Rafa Benitez that he will be backed in the summer transfer window by the board.

The Spaniard arrived at Goodison Park and was announced as Carlo Ancelotti’s replacement this week, with work needing to be done.

The Toffees have suffered big losses in their last couple of accounts, but that hasn’t affected the budget this summer.

Liverpool Echo writer Phil Kirkbride has shared what Benitez was told in his meetings before the announcement this week.

“Yet we are hearing that Benitez has been told he will be backed in the market,” he said.

“I guess it remains to be seen how much he will have to spend, given Everton’s obvious financial situation which has been laid bare in the last couple of accounts, where big losses were suffered.”

Farhad Moshiri has the money ready to spend, but with big losses already reported at the club, it may not be smart.

We all know how tight financial fair play rulings are, but with the way that Manchester City splash cash around, we should be fine regardless.

The Toffees have reportedly thrown £50million at Brighton this week looking to beat Arsenal to the signing of Ben White, and that is a real statement of intent.

White is one of England’s most sought-after players, and his arrival at Goodison Park would show that Benitez is using this money wisely.

The main goal will be to finally reach Europe again next season, and we will only do that by spending money; we’re already excited to see our business.
