Former Everton striker Kevin Campbell has claimed he sees James Rodriguez leaving the club this summer.
The Colombian international reunited with Italian manager Carlo Ancelotti last summer, but his future is unclear following the departure of the former Real Madrid boss.
Rodriguez has been linked with an Everton exit since Ancelotti returned to Madrid, and Campbell does not see him staying at Goodison Park either.
“100%. Not even 99%, 100% I see him moving,” the ex-Toffees star told Goodison News.
“I think that one was a straight on, I’m coming for the manager. I don’t think he knew anything about Everton, Ancelotti spoke to him and he came directly for the manager, so I can understand him leaving.
“Thank you for the year, but time to move on.”
We asked our esteemed panel of Everton Super Fans over on Facebook what they think of the Colombian’s chances of remaining at Goodison Park.
One believes while the 29-year-old is a good player, he is not worth the trouble given his injuries and his wages.
He was not alone as the majority agreed it was best for both parties to part ways.
Here is what they said:
Rodriguez clearly moved to Everton because of Ancelotti, and we really do not expect him to stay.
The Colombian international ended last term with six goals and four assists in 23 league appearances.
While that is a decent return, there is a general belief that he could have done more.
The midfielder is one of the club’s highest-paid players, and we could save some of that money once he leaves.
Given the demands and style of play of new boss Rafa Benitez, we really do not see Rodriguez lasting under the Spaniard.
They did not particularly get along at Madrid, and we are not expecting things to change all of a sudden.
The Colombian is a luxury player and while we enjoyed some of his performances, we agree an exit is the best for both parties.
Benitez will be making some crucial changes to his squad in the coming weeks, and it will actually come as a surprise if Rodriguez is an Everton player at the end of the summer transfer window.
